The Only Warmup You Should Do Before a Tournament
The exact warmup to get dialed in before your first match.
A good warmup isn't about getting tired before you start, it's about arriving at your first match already dialed in. Here's a simple, repeatable routine to find your throw before it counts.
Loosen up first
Start with your body: a few minutes of easy movement and arm swings to get the shoulder and legs loose. Throwing cold is how you start a tournament spraying bags and chasing your release.
Find your release
Begin with easy, relaxed tosses and feel for a clean, repeatable release. Don't chase perfect bags yet, you're just grooving the motion and waking up the feel.
Groove your flat bag
Spend the bulk of your warmup on your flat bag, the shot you'll lean on most. Land a stack of them on the board and on the spot you want before you ever try the fancy stuff.
Build to game speed
Finish by mixing in your roll bag and any shots you expect to use, ramping up to the intensity of a real match. By your last few warmup bags you should feel like the game has already started, then carry that into a calm, well-prepared first push.
