The Secret to Locking In and Finding Your Game
How to find your rhythm and drop into a flow state on the boards.
Every player knows the feeling of being "in the zone", when the bag just goes where you look and you stop thinking about it. That flow state isn't luck; you can set the conditions for it on purpose.
Trust your reps
Locking in starts with getting out of your own way. If you've put in the work on your mechanics, the game is the time to trust them, not coach them. Over-analyzing mid-throw is the fastest way to break the flow.
Find your rhythm
Flow loves rhythm. A steady, repeatable pace between throws, same tempo, same routine, helps you drop into autopilot. Many players have a quiet cue: a breath, a word, a look at the target that flips the switch into focus.
Narrow your focus
Lock onto a small, specific target, the back lip of the hole, a single spot on the board, instead of the whole board or the score. A narrow focus crowds out distraction and pulls you into the present.
Let it come
You can't force the zone, but you can invite it: trust, rhythm, and a narrow target, repeated until it clicks. Pair it with the ability to stay calm under pressure and you'll find your game far more often than you used to.
